The Hudson Valley Undergraduate Games Conference is being organized and sponsored by the Play Innovation Lab and Games and Emerging Media program at Marist College, as well as by Marist’s School of Communication and the Arts and the Media Arts department.
The Games and Emerging Media program is a joint program by the School of Communication and the Arts and School of Computer Science and Mathematics. Dr. Karen Schrier is the director of the conference and the Games and Emerging Media program. The Hudson Valley Undergraduate Games Conference is also affiliated with the Marist Game Society and the new Marist College Center for Ethics.
The Play Innovation Lab is a consortium of Marist College faculty, staff and students who work with Dr. Karen Schrier to research, design, and talk about games, learning, social change, and entertainment.
The Marist Game Society is a very active student-run organization on Marist College campus. They host game tournaments, game jams, speakers, workshops, and other events.
The Media Arts Department at Marist College campus offers a B.A. in Media Studies and Production, with concentrations in Interactive Media/Game Design and Film/Television.
